I don't like it when the winning athlete thanks God.  If God helped the athlete to win, does that mean God dislikes the losing athlete? In that sense, thanking God for the win could be considered an insult to the loser!

I completely agree with you about thanking God. I have heard people say so many times "I'll leave it in God's hands". I wanna hit them, why don't you just thank God for any sense He left you to help youself. Thank Him for life and make the most of it.

God only helps those to ask him and allow him access into their lives and activities. If a winning athlete thanks God, they have obviously invited him into their life.

nancy your answer implies that the losing side did not "invite him into thier life"s.

The idea is to have faith in your life and to believe that someone spiritual is there to help you , winner or looser.

The true "Thank You" to God resonates in the humble silence of one's heart.

God is all loving and all caring. Those who praise him after their accomplishments is showing that they are thankful to him for giving them the ability to succeed in their challenges. Just because they are thankful to Him for winning does not mean that he dislikes the losing team. Many are thankful to God for the opportunity to play. Having faith and giving glory to The Almighty is a sign of humility acknowledging that only through Him are all things possible win or lose.

Thanking god also takes away your own accomplishments. If you've trained 5 days a week for 4 years for one race, and then thank god you've just said those 4 years of training didn't even matter.

Also dude, claiming how intelligent you are, regardless of what tests you've taken which support this will always make you come accross as

a) an huge ass
b) not actually intelligent
c) just looking for attention

so how about not bringing it up at all?

Since you claim there is no such thing as an opinion, what is your NON-OPINION answer to the question: does God exist?

OnlyFacts,

I plan to address that topic in a future post.

People thank God for many things, and in many ways. In any case, you have made a huge jump from God helping an athlete to win to God "disliking" the loser. Perhaps you should make your case a bit more coherently and intellectually, and justify being the 74th smartest person in the world.

Anonymous,

what exactly did you find incoherent an unintellectual about my post? You seem unable to provide any examples.

If God likes the winning athlete, then why would it be a "huge jump" to believe that God might dislike the losing athlete?

Does my helping of the homeless man I encountered (I gave him a few cans of soup) mean that I dislike the homeless person that I did not give cans of soup to?

I dont like in when people say thanks to god for winning. I seriously double that good would help anybody WIN. That would be cheating and against what GOD stands for.

On the other hand when they say something like "and I have to think god for keeping me safe!" that a whole new thing. I usually say this in my own life.

What humility! Instead of boasting he is the #1 smartest person in the world, he humbly proclaims there are 73 people smarter than him!!

Anonymous,

I placed 74th in the world. Do you think that it would make more sense to lie and claim to have ranked first?

Also, do you think it should be important for someone in my position to be humble, considering that one objective of mine is to generate interest in a debate oriented website?

No, it would make more sense to not claim it at all.

Are you really so self-conscious? Or just really insecure about your own intelligence that you have to proclaim it to the world in order to reaffirm it to yourself?

Anonymous,

think about what you just said. Yes, it's good to be humble in many social situations. But this is not exactly a social situation, and as such it bears little reflection on my level of security or affirmation.

You imply that it makes more sense to appear humble than it does to generate interest in my site. Huh?

Do you not think that advertising my intelligence level would attract readers that otherwise wouldn't visit?

The blog space is enormous...so enormous, in fact, that the average blog has only one reader, the author.

If you want to generate interest, you must set yourself apart.

I've done that. People are interested in what an extremely intelligent person has to say, and some people (who dislike my proclamation) are also interested in trying to take me down a notch (people like you).

I don't expect this to shut you up...after all, your aim isn't likely to be logical, but rather to take me down a notch. Your attacks are actually a form of flattery.

After all, you completely failed to explain why you implied that I should've lied and said I was instead first in the world.

People like you are mentally unable to be successful in many ways.

Anonymous,

first, you failed to explain or admit the poor use of logic you have used.

You now revert to saying:

"but your blog is all about YOU! lol "

It is? Can you find one article, out of the forty or so in total, where the topic was myself?
